Edit July 2007: Plans to expand the trails in Alexander Park have resumed.
Expansion at Alexander Park in Buncombe County has been halted. Workers at Buncombe County Landfill needed to build a road in the area where trails were planned to mine soil. A new loop was planned, and a skills/freeride area was planned to allow mountain bikers to test their agility and allow for more public events. A $50,000 grant appears to have been lost as well.
