The new Estatoe Trail, long rumored to be under construction (and confirmed by the Forest Service a while back), opens tomorrow. They’ve been somewhat secretive about it, but it appears that the new multi-use trail runs along the Davidson River, from the town of Brevard/Pisgah Forest up to the Davidson River Campground. This means that mountain bikers and hikers who live or stay in Brevard or Pisgah Forest now don’t even have to drive to reach the trails! (You could always ride up US Hwy. 276 to the trailheads, but that was a risky proposition at times).
