When I was young, this view was dominated by rows of dead Fraser fir trunks after age, acid rain, and the Balsam Woolly Adelgid conspired to kill off the forest nearly all at once in the 1980’s. As of 2020, there’s only one or two dead trees to be seen – the logs have fallen and a new crop of trees have grown to take their place. They’ll soon be tall enough to block the view!
