Red Spruce trees are becoming more visible above the 3000 – 3500 ft range in the Pisgah Ranger District due to the loss of the eastern hemlock. While these normally thrive at much higher elevations, quite a few of them are mixed in at lower elevations and some are big enough to start producing cones.
